Cover artist Peter Tandlund is one of the founders of Comigo, a consulting and business services company in Sweden where he works as a web and graphic designer. He is also a songwriter and musician in the Swedish alternative-pop band Trabant. When Peter is not working or playing music, he loves to go on long walks and take photographs with his Diana F+, Holga, Flexaret, or iPhone.
Peter says of the cover image, “Lately I have been experimenting with long-exposure photography, trying to find new ways to create movement and blurs with a painterly feel to them. When I take this kind of shot, I leave the shutter open for 2-4 seconds while walking. As with all image making, I think about the composition and try to find subjects and objects that are interesting in shape, color and contrast. The thumbnail view in a camera’s viewfinder is a great aid for composing: the small window lets you focus on the important elements of the image.”
Steve Mitchell has been a construction worker, cowboy, substitute teacher, chef, and has developed and managed a mental health program for the chronic mentally ill. He's worked in theatre, film and multi-voice poetry. His work has been published in the Southeast Review, Contrary, Glossolalia, and The North Carolina Literary Review, among others, and has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize. His short story, “Above the Rooftop,” was named a storySouth Million Writers Award Notable Story of 2010, and he is currently completing a novel, Body of Trust. He has a deep belief in the primacy of doubt and an abiding conviction that great wisdom can inhabit very bad movies. He has an ambivalent relationship with his cat, Mr. Zip. Sometimes, he just doesn't know. And that's all right.
