Press 53 is pleased to announce the 2009 STORY TO SCREENPLAY ADAPTATION COMPETITION, in partnership with RiverRun International Film Festival and Stone's Throw Films.
This anthology of stories and screenplays is the result of a collaborative effort to celebrate story writing and filmmaking by encouraging new voices through competition.
RiverRun’s STORY TO SCREENPLAY ADAPTATION COMPETITION is open to any original, feature-length screenplay adapted from one or more short stories.
Short stories eligible for this competition must be written in English, either published or unpublished.
There are no genre categories (comedy, drama, etc.); the only criterion is a compelling screenplay.
The 2009 winner will receive a complimentary trip to the RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, NC (April 2009) with lodging and access to all festival events; publication of the winning screenplay and the short story/stories from which it was adapted in the 2009 RiverRun Story to Screenplay Reader; one-year option with Stone’s Throw Films and production of a promotional trailer; and recognition and award presentation at the closing night awards ceremony.
